Simpson's Glove Factory, Victoria Street, Richmond C.1932

Simpson's Gloves was formed in 1924 by Amos Griffiths Simpson and Henry Atkins. The company first operated in  424 Smith Street, Collingwood then moving to Alexandra Parade, Collingwood, then another move to 488 Victoria Street, Richmond in 1928 after Arthur Atkins bought the factory from the son of one of its original owners. 

The factory specialized in industrial and fashion glove manufacture, and at various periods also produced leather coats, caps, purses, wallets, aviation helmets, gauntlets, suitcases, and handbags. 

During WWII the company concentrated on production of producets for the military services, including the US Air Force, and continued to make dress gloves for the military academy at Duntroon into the 1970s. By the late 1970s the firm was producing mostly industrial gloves.
