Fish market, Melbourne Terminus, and Bicycle Locker, corner Swanston Street and Flinders Street, (the future site of Flinders Street Railway Station) C.1874
Between 1870 - 1875 rail travelers to Port Melbourne, South Melbourne and St Kilda entered their platform by a ramp that began just beyond the lefthand edge of this predecessor to where Flinders Street Station was later built.
The ramp heading underground on the corner may have been an early attempt to divert heavy rain downpours which even these days, on occasion flood that end of Swanston Street.
