Richmond is a major railway station and hub, just east of the City of Melbourne. It carries tracks to the eastern and southern suburbs and out to Gippsland.
This shot shows the ground level rail crossing at Swan Street, prior to the 1885 opening of the elevated station and grade separation of both the Punt Road and Swan Street crossings.
