The Georges store in Collins Street C. 1920, near Russell Street, with the Scots Church next door.
The building was designed by John Grainger and Charles D'Ebro and built in 1884. The George Bros moved into the building in 1889 after their business further west on Collins St (near Elizabeth) was destroyed by fire.
They traded from here until 1995, establishing Georges as an up-market house of quality homewares, fashion and services.
