Swanston Street, Melbourne. C. 1931
Photo taken from the Swanston Street entrance to Flinders Street station. It looks north east toward Flinders Street, with Princes Bridge Station opposite, out of shot.
Beyond the cars, trams and people - is the neo-gothic Metropolitan Gas Company building on Flinders Street, later Gas and Fuel.
Of particular interest, is the near completion of the St Pauls Cathedral Spires. The cathedral was designed by the English Gothic Revival architect William Butterfield and completed in 1891. The spires however, were built to a different design between 1926 - 1932.
