Looking south down Elizabeth (toward Flinders Street Station) from Bourke.
Cable Trams and horse drawn vehicles fill the streets. Note also the ‘sparrow starvers’ on left: Street sweepers with the job of keeping the streets (trying to) clear of horse manure. They earned the nick-name as their work precluded the birds from raking through the manure for seeds.
Note the angled pediments that once graced the Flinders Street station roof line, either side of the clock tower.
